The Center for Biological Timing was established as a Science and
Technology Center by the National Science Foundation in 1991. It
combines the investigative efforts from the University of Virginia,
Northwestern University and Rockefeller University to study various
aspects of biological timing.
The Center studies the internal timing mechanisms which control cycles
of sleep and waking, hormone pulsatility, neuronal excitability and
reproductive rhythmicity. Investigators are involved with research from
behavioral testing to molecular genetics.
