How does online or web based faxing work?There are some services that simply allow you to "send" files from your computers via their fax network that uses local calling numbers to send the faxes. This avoids long distance charges. For companies that offer plans, the long distance charges are USUALLY covered in the plan. Depending on the service, you may get a toll free number for your fax and be able to have voicemail and/or receive faxes. Faxes ent to this number are forwarded to your email box as a .tif or other graphic format. You can use your email to send outgoing faxes and include attachments. Voicemail messages are sent to your inbox as .wav files or some other audio format.
