PC to Phone works by either using a java client from your web browser
or by downloading client software to have your PC. Once you have installed
or loaded the applet you enter the phone number and your voice and dial
signals travel over the Internet directly to a phone in someone's home
or office. Most PC to Phone services clearly identify where you can
call for free.
On your computer you must have a microphone, speakers
(althought head set is better) and sound card.to send a video when you
call friends, family, or for work.
If you've never used your microphone, it's easy to try
it out. On your Start Menu go to Accessories, then Entertainment and
then choose Sound Recorder. This little recorder is just like a tape
player. If your microphone is working you'll be able to see the sound
waves in the little display window and play back the sound.
If the sound is not being recorded, most likely you need
to either set up your microphone as a default recording device by going
to your Start Menu, choosing Settings, Control Panel and then choose
Multimedia.
Look for Recording device settings. Make sure that it's set to microphone
and the volume is set high enough for recording. Notice the check mark
on the lower right for microphone.
